HELIX alpha supports university research into European Life Science Real Estate

HELIX alpha recently supported a university research project led by Professor Dr. Bernd Wieberneit at Hochschule RheinMain as part of the Master's programme International Investment and Asset Management.

During the second semester, student teams prepared graded research projects analysing the investment attractiveness of six European Life Science Real Estate markets: Denmark, Ireland, Spain, France, Sweden and the Netherlands.

HELIX alpha accompanied the project throughout the semester and participated in the final evaluation of the presentations, providing an institutional investor's perspective alongside the academic assessment.

The objective of the projects was to identify the factors that make Life Science clusters successful, assess each market's investment potential and derive appropriate investment strategies. The students applied established analytical frameworks, including the Quadruple Helix model, to evaluate the interaction between academia, industry, government and society.

The quality of the research was impressive. While each country demonstrated distinct competitive advantages. From Denmark's globally significant life science sector to Ireland's strategic international position. All teams reached a remarkably consistent conclusion.

European Life Science Real Estate is an emerging asset class with substantial long-term growth prospects. At the same time, many European markets continue to experience a structural undersupply of modern laboratory, research and innovation facilities, both in terms of quantity and quality.
